Flint collected from Balloërveld, NL, and transported to Glasgow, UK, with the intention of making fire (see 'FIRE; ATTEMPT 1' and 'FIRE; ATTEMPT 2'). These stones, remnants from the Weichselian Ice Age (475,000 to 410,000 years ago), prompted a reflection on the vast temporal span they represent compared to human life. The artist’s initial disregard for their ancient origins led to a profound understanding of the immense difference between the stones' existence and her mortality.
