Questions our fixation on ideals like beauty and purity, revealing how, in our pursuit of these constructs, we often consume and destroy. Yet, we still cling to tokens of these ideals—such as a bronze mussel—as if they can be bought or preserved. The video and the bronze mussels, both titled Love Mussel, are independent works exploring these themes. These lovely bronze mussels are available for purchase and make excellent pocket sculptures.
Mussels available for purchase; contact Michael directly for further information. *Only one of them has been in the artist’s mouth.
