Artist Bio
Michael Hautemulle, born in Brussels in 1991 to a French father and American mother, spent her early life in Flagstaff, AZ, before studying Applied Arts in France and later fashion at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
She holds a Bachelor's from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam (2014) and a Master's in Fine Art from the Glasgow School of Art (2017). From 2019 to 2022 she worked as a technician at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, supporting artists across woodwork, cold casting, blacksmithing, metal fabrication, and foundry.
In 2022 she returned to her own practice, relocating to Aberdeen. She presented her first solo exhibition, Bodies at Rest, in 2024, and in 2025 co-curated With Love, a group exhibition featuring twelve Aberdeen-based artists, accompanied by a reading group, workshop series, performances, and publication.
Her work has been exhibited in Amsterdam, Glasgow, London, and Aberdeen. She has mentored and lectured at several educational institutions and contributed to various publications. She is currently developing The Abyss Project, a new collaborative initiative, with her partner Joost van Loon.
She works from her studio at Deemouth Artist Studios, Aberdeen.
